The hardest thing for me is actually studying and praying. I always procrastinate. Another thing for me is I am very comfortable behind the puplit at my church. I can't feel the Spirit leading me at my own church pulpit, but when I preach at another church I feel the anointing. It's weird. Not sure. I suppose it's not about feeling for yourself, but for others.

I think getting people to trust me is one of the hardest things there is I'm seeing. I am a young preacher and I can see some of the people who I was raised by now look at me as a preacher and it is as if I can't say anything to them about God at all because they think I'm to young. Also I have just reciently been assigned over the mens ministry and these guys there don't show up for anything nor do it look like they want to be told anything by a young person

Although I plan a series ahead of time, I do sermon prep for each message week to week, nothing much in advance apart from the general study of the book or topic done in preparation for the whole series.

Great stuff Jonathan. I think one thing that has been big for me is to 'plan ahead.' Knowing what I will be preaching on in a month helps me do more sermon prep, because I am thinking through the message.

What are your thoughts on how far you, or others, plan out their sermons (at least topics and passages)?

Thanks man!
