If God is Good…

On Sunday we touched on the problem of evil, pointing out that our African brothers and sisters have a better view of God and the problem of evil than we do, and they suffer more! If you’d like to read and reflect more on how God explains his relationship to evil and suffering, here are some helpful resources:

If God is Good (Alcorn) – Randy Alcorn has written this lengthy new book (releases Sept 15), which addresses the problem of evil biblically, theologically, and practically.

The Grand Demonstration (Adams) – a brief, helpful book that addresses the problem of evil in a very accessible way.

Unspeakable (Guiness) – a culturally savvy, philosophical, and helpful book on the problem of evil. Interesting read.

The Gospel and Social Action

Is social action part of the Gospel or merely an important implication of the Gospel? This is an issue I have been working through biblically, theologically, and practically. I am working on a short paper to address this issue for our Acts 29 Region. Today I came across a conservative lecture “The Gospel and Social Action” by D.A. Carson that addresses the issue head-on. For those interested in understanding these important distinctions, and wanting to clarify just what the gospel is, this will be a helpful resource.

Andy Naselli provides a helpful summary of the 60 minute audio.
