Keeping Down's Babies
In the UK, a recent study shows that, despite the emergence of prenatal screening, parents are keeping their Down Syndrome babies. In an age of increasingly Huxleyian possibilities, it is refreshing to hear of parents selecting less than “perfect” children. That rate is on the rise. Such an act is so against-the-grain. Why do it when you could abort and get a “perfect” child?
The study shows that: “A fifth said they had known somebody with Down’s, a third cited religious or anti-abortion beliefs and 30% felt life had improved for people with Down’s.” It is good to hear anti-abortion in the context of pro-life action. So often anti-abortionists are more concerned with decrying laws, policies and clinics that they fail to actually act in any tangible pro-life manner.
And if Christians are among the largely pro-lifers, I would hope that this wonderful, redemptive, life-giving trend in keeping downs babies, adopting orphans, and helping the helpless will continue.

Why is Christian Culture Bad?
This weekend I was in San Antonio Texas to cheer my wife on in her second marathon. She finished strong and I am so proud of her (more to come on that)! It’s weird being out of Austin and seeing so much bad Texan Christian culture. The notion that Christians should have their own sub-culture is a very interesting topic. One that we will only briefly address here by way of your commentary on some case studies.
Below are some pictures of several Christian T-shirts my wife and I found while we were on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, a place where a wide array of ethnicities and cultures of the world converge. Embedded in this cornucopia of cultural diversity, I found the following shirts. As you look at them, share why you think they reflect good or bad Christian culture. Have fun!
Yes, I bought all of them and will start preaching in them each Sunday. Just kidding.
