Austin City Life & Austin Safeplace

This morning Austin City Lifers met up at a local coffeeshop and then headed over to Austin Safeplace to renovate the Teen Therapy Room.

Safeplace is a non-profit that serves abused and battered women and children. Safeplace has been around for about 35 years and currently houses 90 residents, offers counseling, schooling, life skills, and daycare. They are doing a tremendous work in Travis county. We were blessed to be a small part of what they are doing.

LEAD 09: Chester & Dodson Video/Audio Up!

LEAD 09 has been working hard to get all the video and audio up from the recent conference in Maine. Was an outstanding time of reflection on important issues surrounding the Gospel, Community, and Mission. Tim’s teaching was immensely practical, and I love his commitment to biblical theology as the engine of missional ecclesiology. Check it out here! Here is Tim’s session on Community as a Lifestyle.

Here is helpful definition of the local church from Mark Driscoll from Vintage Church:

The local church is a community of regenerated believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord. In obedience to Scripture they organize under qualified leadership, gather regularly for preaching and worship, observe the biblical sacraments of baptism and communion, are unified by the Spirit, are disciplined for holiness, and scatter to fulfill the great commandment and the great commission as missionaries to the world for God’s glory and their joy.
